January is School Board Appreciation Month!

Thank a School Board Member!

January is School Board Recognition Month and Uvalde C.I.S.D. is joining other districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools.

School board members serve countless hours working to make public education the best it can be for every child. In a climate of change and challenge, they develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues that affect the entire community and the lives of individual students.

Preparing today’s students to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow is a tremendous task. As elected officials, school board members are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our schoolchildren

The men and women serving Uvalde C.I.S.D. are: President Stephen Gerdes II, Vice President Javier Flores, Secretary Rob Fowler, Board of Trustee Luis Fernandez, Board of Trustee Roland Sanchez, Board of Trustee Anabel White and Board of Trustee Carlos Fernandez.

Great leadership always begins with a willing heart and a positive attitude. Please join us as we applaud these local leaders for helping our kids soar to success.

An Act of Kindness in Action...

Robb Elementary Fourth Grade student Juan Sanchez created a plan and put it into action to benefit someone else during the Christmas Season. He has been collecting gently used and new toys to take to surrounding hospitals and shelters for children this Christmas. This was his idea to help children who might not otherwise receive anything for Christmas. Students at Robb Elementary have been very supportive of Juan and his desire to make Christmas merry for all children. This wonderful act of kindness is heartwarming and an excellent example for all!
